Happy Tuesday!

We have now officially entered Sunday Reading Season with no football distractions after the Super Bowl. One more cutaway to T-Swift for good times sake!

Today's Rundown:

  • 📚 Hollywood, Book to Movie Pipeline: A Conversation with Laura Malin

  •  📺 Kaia Gerber Launches Library Science

  • 📖 King: A Life

Let's roll!

This Week On Bookum:

We are adding something really cool to the app this week so make sure to update your app Thursday for a surprise (We will share next newsletter)

In the meantime… WE had a very insightful Nook conversation with Laura Malin.

Laura Malin is the founder of Malin Entertainment and has over 25+ years of experience in Hollywood and the Entertainment industry helping authors bring their books to life on screen (her script was even optioned by Leonardo DiCaprio's company freshly after his role in Titanic!)

This conversation about the Book-Movie Pipeline was very eye opening and I believe you will enjoy it!

Of course we also talked about Celebrity Book Clubs and their impact.

Here's a link to the podcast episode:

This Week in The Book World:

While some people were kicking toilet paper during Quarantine *looking at you Tiktokers*

Others were reading and starting Book Clubs.

By others we mean the bookish daughter of Cindy Crawford, Kaia Gerber!

Last week, Kaia announced the launch of her anticipated Library Science Book Club website!

Since 2020, Kaia has interviewed authors such as Cleo Wade, Marguerite Duras and most recently Kaveh Akbar on IG live and has finally made her videos available in one spot.

The book club's tagline is "WE LEARN THE MOST FROM THE STORIES THAT AREN’T OUR OWN."

Always great to see people express their love of books and community!

We will share the website below - let them know Bookum sent you 😉

This Week in Publishing:

We interrupt this regularly scheduled new release section to spotlight a book that has been the talk of the town for months.

It was a finalist for the 2023 National Book Critics Circle Award…

One of The New Yorker's essential reads of 2023 | A Christian Science Monitor best book of the year | One of Air Mail's twelve best books of 2023

and A New Times Bestseller… 'King: A life'

King: A Life written by Jonathan Eig (author of Ali: A Life as well as Luckiest Man on Lou Gehrig) tells a groundbreaking and intimate portrait of Martin Luther King Jr's life.

The book is rich of historical conversations with friends, family and enemies of MLK and tells his life story in the most comprehensive biography to date.

We will be hosting an exclusive Nook Conversation (audio room) on the Bookum App at 9PM CST tonight! (Nook will show up on Discovery tab)

Even if you have not read the book, we still encourage you to tune in!

As always, if you enjoyed this week’s newsletter, please share it with others. Every share helps and keeps us growing!
