This Week On Bookum:

Like Kendrick Lamar said, "sometimes you have to pop out and show people" that you are doing it big, and this week I want to shine a light on our great team!

Introducing Live Streaming and Reading Sprints!

Yes, you can now host reading sprints on Bookum and live stream your silent book club meetings!

With reading sprints, the timer starts at a 2-hour countdown! Then… the choice is up to you.

Here are some examples:

  • You can do two 40-minute reading/productivity sprints with two 20-minute breaks for chat and discussion.

  • You can do two 30-minute sprints, etc.

Once the countdown is over, you can also start another sprint if you want to do 4-hour streams!

For our cookbook authors, you can use the 2-hour live stream to host exclusive cooking classes for your group!

The live stream can also be used to have long-form book discussions with your group, author chats, book + wine pairing conversations, etc.

Regardless, our goal with live streaming is to give creators more freedom with how they connect with their clubs!

Try it out yourself on Bookum now! www.bookumapp.com

Enjoy!

This Week in The Book World:

Dreams were made this week in New York. Epic Reads (HarperCollins), AvonBooks, had an event called Shelves and the City where they flew out over 60 Book Content Creators for well… Bookish things!

They got to visit some awesome local bookstores (book crawl), do wine tasting, and even had a book rooftop party (all expenses paid)!

Christine & Monique, book creators of "The Roomie Digest," said of the event:

"We got the chance to meet online bookish besties irl, meet authors, go on a book crawl (and see our boss bestie @bookishlykatherine ), hang out with old friends, meet new ones, and generally celebrate the bookish community and all the hard work that creators do for it. The entire weekend felt like a HS reunion filled with laughter, dancing, good food, and a ton of new experiences." (From Instagram post)

We always love a good creator collaboration, and this might be one of our favorites of the year! We've included some more creators' posts below!

Editor's Note:

Seems like everyone had a blast, but if not, please note we are not affiliated with this event. We look forward to hosting some amazing Creator In-person events ourselves in the near future!

This Week in Publishing:

Always fun to see great author book marketing, and LaDarrion Williams is a great example!

Williams has had a few viral posts and has turned his new YA/MG book 'Blood at the Root' into a highly anticipated book and now a bestseller.

Summary:

"A teenager on the run from his past finds the family he never knew existed and the community he never knew he needed at an HBCU for the young, Black, and magical. Enroll in this fresh fantasy debut unlike anything you've seen before."

If you are an author, definitely check out his social media. If you are a reader, make sure to add his book to your TBR on Bookum!

As always, if you enjoyed this week’s newsletter, please share it with others. Every share helps and keeps us growing!

Definitely share to a book content creator friend that might enjoy our newsletter!
