Booktok Ban Buzz and Video Nooks Unveiled!

Colleen Hoover, Loida Lewis & Alex Aster

Happy Tuesday!

We've got some exciting news this week to share, so this is us in meme form:

Preface:

  • 📚 VIDEO NOOKS

  •  📺 Tiktok Ban - Booktok

  • 📖 Loida Lewis Audiobook release

Let’s Get Going!

This Week On Bookum:

We did a thing…

Introducing VIDEO NOOKS!

Yes, we now have group video conferencing for book club hosts!

Clubs can now start group-video conversations, reading sprints, author talks, panel discussions, and more with Video Nook!

Not to mention, livestream to your group!

We are taking book clubs to the next level and bringing a dynamic book club space, like nowhere else on the internet.

No more needing to have a Zoom account, moderate a Discord, start a Facebook group channel, poll your club on Google Form, etc., just to have an online book club!

Additionally, creators with membership clubs can also have exclusive club spaces for monetization!

Start your club with us today and please recommend us to a friend who is thinking about starting a book club!

(Also, please feel free to respond to this email if you have any questions or need help setting up!)

This Week in The Book World:

Technically, we are a week or so behind (Psst its our Newsletter, okay 😆), but it was announced that a TikTok ban was passed in the House.

This announcement sent the internet world into a fury and we couldn't help but think about the amazing community that the book space has built over at Booktok.

For those unaware, Booktok is a large (130+ Billion Views) space on TikTok, where people share their love of books through video content.

Booktok has been largely responsible for the rise of Colleen Hoover (who, by the way, sold more books than the Bible in 2022 😳), Alex Aster (who spent 52+ weeks on the NYT Bestsellers list from viral TikToks), and Adam Silvera, to name a few.

We say all of this to ask creators reading, what's your thought on a potential Booktok ban? Are you diversifying platforms, YOLOing it on TikTok, or playing it day by day?

Reply and let us know! Very curious about your thoughts on all of this!

P.S. - Three weeks ago we added 30-sec videos with loops to our community feed, so we would love for you to cross-post your TikTok videos with us as well!

This Week in Publishing:

We are updating our mantra this week… We shout out Authors too!

Particularly authors that have joined/supported us.

I'm excited to announce that Mrs. Loida Lewis' "Why Should Guys Have All the Fun?" audiobook is now today!

We recently had the privilege to have her on our Founders Talk Podcast (which I highly recommend - So much wisdom!) to discuss her book and taking over a billion-dollar business after the early passing of her husband Reginald Lewis.

We will leave a link below if you are interested in getting a copy of her new audiobook!

As always, if you enjoyed this week’s newsletter, please share it with others. Every share helps and keeps us growing!

Definitely share to a book content creator friend that might enjoy our newsletter!

Share this newsletter on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, or via email.

Happy Reading!
