How often do you think about the Roman Empire?
Well this week you got another chance to because we sat down with poet and translator Dr. Aaron Poochigian to discuss his new translation of Meditations by Marcus Aurelius.
We discuss the fall of the Roman Republic, the rise of the Roman Empire, Marcus Aurelius, Stoicism, and his new translation.
For our history scholars and fans of stoic philosophy, this conversation is full of fascinating stories!
Enjoy!

This Week in The Book World:
Put me in Coach!
One time is a fad, two times is a trend.
The book world continues to step into fashion under Coach's 2026 Spring Campaign titled "Explore Your Story."
Tapping campaign stars such as WNBA's Paige Bueckers, Hollywood actresses Elle Fanning, Storm Reid, South Korean rapper SOYEON, and Japanese singer-songwriter Lilas to share top books that have shaped their generation's worldview.

This campaign has led into a Coach Book Club highlighting books such as Jane Austen’s Sense & Sensibility and Maya Angelou’s I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings to Natsu Miyashita’s The Forest of Wool and Steel.
Here's where it went viral.
They then turned well-renowned books into exclusive bag charms, championed by conversations they had with global Gen Z consumers on platforms such as Sunnie (Hello Sunshine) and China Youth Daily.

Joon Silverstein, Coach Chief Marketing Officer, said Gen Z sees books “as a refuge, a way to slow down, reflect, and feel a sense of belonging.”
Although targeting Gen Z, the campaign has been a success across the larger book community.
Lastly the "Explore Your Story" Coach campaign also plans to do campus tours, in-store "Book Nook" (sound familiar 🤔🤣), and other community events.
We always say (or at least allude to) ‘Books Are Pop Culture’ and in 2026 you are seeing book culture expanding into all walks of life. From Hollywood, to high fashion, and beyond, the power of books and stories continue to shine through.
For book content creators, continue to start book clubs, host community events, share about your favorite books, and host (nook) group discussions. Again you never know who is watching!
