This Week On Bookum:

Did we finally kill modern review bombing?… Well, sorta.

For years, book bombing has been an issue in the book space, and this week our team is rolling out part one of our solution!

Introducing Verified Reviews!

Verified Reviews will be our two-tier solution for book bombing in the book space.

Bookum will begin having "Verified Reviewers" scores and "All Readers" scores.

Currently, if you have a checkmark on Bookum, your book reviews will be "verified" (with great power comes great responsibility).

When readers check a book, they will see two scores, and based on those scores, they can have a better understanding of what people actually think of the book.

This helps with book bombing because verified readers may give a book 4.5/5 (90%) stars, while all readers may give a book 2/5 (40%) (for example, when a book might be good but is banned, or the author is hated, etc.).

Both sides are equally important to the overall conversation of what makes a book good, controversial, celebrated, or hated.

Bookum is where bookish conversations happen, and we want to make sure we are having honest and engaging conversations around books!
