Happy Pub Day!
It's all books, no play around here. In fact, this is how we woke up this morning:

Check out our recent Founders Talk Podcast with book marketer and strategist Steph Moon of Stephmoonco.
If you are an author or writing a book, this is a must-listen conversation!

This Week On Bookum:
It's summertime, so you know what that means… BBQs, picnics, and cookouts!
Did you know you can host Cookbook Clubs on Bookum?
What is a cookbook club, you ask?
(Back to back to back questions, what are we doing? 😆)

Live Cooking Classes

Cookbook clubs are when you pick a cookbook for your book club and lead a cooking class and conversations around the book. It's a way for your group to bond over food.
Cookbook clubs can also be led by the cookbook authors themselves, and they can teach club members about the history of the food, the family stories, and of course, teach them what "a pinch" really means.
With live streaming video, group audio, and blogging, cookbook clubs on Bookum are a great way for friends all around the world to connect through food and books!

This Week in The Book World:
This is not The Breakfast Club, BUT… if we were giving out Donkeys of the Day, the winner would be the Chicago Sun-Times.
This week, one of their journalists learned what happens when AI-ing goes wrong.
The Chicago Sun-Times printed an article for a summer reading list for 2025 with not one, not two, but multiple fake book titles.

Post by Tina, host of Book, Talk, Etc. https://www.instagram.com/p/DJ4igTlgZkQ/?igsh=QkFNcEdPcUEtZA%3D%3D
The book titles were completely hallucinated by the AI model, and no one from the news outlet double-checked the titles before printing!
As you can imagine, people were not happy. It once again shows that although AI continues to be universally adopted, the guardrails are still being established.
Safe to say no one will be reading The Rainmakers by Percival Everett this summer.

Let us know your thoughts on AI, love it, hate it, or indifferent. Let's discuss!
Lastly, if you are looking for a summer reading guide curated by book content creators in the space, two are releasing this week Friday from creators and friends of Bookum: Traci Thomas & Sara Hildreth!
This Week in Publishing:
We can't talk about cookbook clubs and not give you a recommendation!
Internet sensation and chef Meredith Hayden is out with her debut (and instant #1 New York Times bestselling book), The Wishbone Kitchen Cookbook!
Summary of the book:
Inspired by years working as a chef in New York City and the Hamptons, as well as her childhood summers on Nantucket, Meredith Hayden makes food that is both unfussy and elegant - often with a touch of whimsy.
In The Wishbone Kitchen Cookbook, Meredith teaches you to cook like a professional hostess (and have fun while doing it). This is the kind of food to celebrate every season of life; the kind of cooking you don’t start until you’ve made yourself a drink first. Recipes range from 20-minute meals to show-stopping centerpieces, all fit for your next dinner party.
Add Wishbone Kitchen to your TBR and start your cookbook club today!
