📚New Dr. Seuss Book, Reese Witherspoon’s New Thriller, and What’s New This Week on Bookum

Cebo Campbell, ClassicallyClare, Harlan Coben

Happy Wednesday!

Time has passed, days have gone on, but our love for books remains.

(This is a poetic way of saying the newsletter is back from break!)

Thank you to everyone who joined our Open Nook discussions last week for the books ‘Dominion’ and ‘We Do Not Talk About Carol’! Special shoutout to the authors Addie E. Citchens and Kristen L. Berry for joining us, and to our wonderful guest hosts Morgan (Prettylittlebookshelf), Rochelle (@rchellelynn), and Mimi (@turnpageswithmimi) for leading these exciting conversations!

Let us know which author we should invite next to discuss their book with the Bookum community!

By the way, Nooks (real-time group audio rooms) are completely free on the app. You are always welcome to host your own book talks, creator chats, and more on Bookum!

LASTLY, just like last year, reply to this email with a picture of your Halloween costume for a special shoutout in next week's newsletter. (Extra credit for any costume that is book-themed or character-related!)

*Cue that LeBron James meme*

We got two more for you!

We also have a double-header to bring in the Halloween weekend🎃!

On Friday, October 31th at 9 AM EST, join us on the Creators Talk Podcast with the insightful ClassicallyClare. She is bringing a new spin to the classic book world with her creative content, dynamic study hall group, and her love of Shakespeare’s The Tempest! It is sure to be a great discussion.

And since football season is in full swing, come get ready with us at 11 AM EST on Friday with New York Times reporter and sportswriter Ken Belson to discuss his new book ‘Every Day is Sunday’.

We will discuss the business side of the NFL, from its humble beginnings to the 23-billion-dollar cultural and economic juggernaut it is today!

As always, join us for one, some, or all of these conversations live on Bookum!

This Week in The Book World:

Just like 2Pac, you can always find an unreleased Dr. Seuss bookđŸ€Ł.

This week, for the first time since 2015’s What Pet Should I Get?, a new original manuscript and cover sketch by the legendary author was found!

The new ‘Sing the 50 United States’ will be published by Random House Children’s Books next summer on June 2, 2026.

Additional illustrations were completed for the book by children’s book artist Tom Brannon.

This Week in Publishing:

End the spooky season with a little suspense from international bestselling thriller novelist Harlan Coben and Academy Award winner Reese Witherspoon (in partnership with Hello Sunshine) in their critically acclaimed ‘Gone Before Goodbye’.

Summary:

Maggie McCabe is teetering on the brink. A highly skilled and renowned Army combat surgeon, she has always lived life at the edge, where she could make the most impact. And it was all going to plan
 until it was not.

Upside down after a devastating series of tragedies leads to her medical license being revoked, Maggie has lost her purpose, but not her nerve or her passion. At her lowest point, she is thrown a lifeline by a former colleague, an elite plastic surgeon whose anonymous clientele demand the best care money can buy, as well as absolute discretion.
